May I extend to you a very warm welcome to our school. Your child is just as important to us as he or she is to you. The staff and I are committed to providing the best possible education opportunities for all children in a secure and stimulating environment.

I hope that you and your child enjoy being part of our school community.

You are welcome at all times to contact me or the teachers to share your feelings of satisfaction or concern.

Your assistance with school and classroom programmes will always be welcome.

Welcome to Keith Street School.

Linda Ireton, Principal

Keith Street School welcomes all new enrolments. We currently have an open roll, and there is currently no waiting list. However it helps us projecting roll growth if you pre-enrol. We have an enrolment kit which is available from the school office.

If your child is just starting school, there is time put aside for your child to transition into the school environment. We ask that you enroll your child with us before starting transition. The school will need to view the child’s birth certificate and immunisation record. Transition is on Monday and Wednesday mornings over a two to four week period prior to turning five. Children are able to attend school on these days from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm. Responsibility for the child’s safety and welfare remains with the parents during this transition time. Once a five year is enrolled and starts school, they are required to attend school.

Ministry of Education requirements at the time of enrolment are as follows:

For all students not born in New Zealand, schools must attach to the student’s enrolment a copy of the student’s passport showing their residency status and a Student Permit. Other types of documentation that are acceptable to use to confirm a student’s immigration status include, a Certificate of Naturalisation, or Immigration Service documentation of Refugee Status.

For all students born in New Zealand, schools must attach a copy of each student’s Birth Certificate and immunisation certificate to their enrolment form.

On enrolment, parents agree to support the policies adopted by the Board of Trustees. The Keith Street Board of Trustees’ Policies are available at the school office for viewing.

We are a Positive Behaviour 4 Learning (PB4L) and Restorative Practice School.

As a PB4L school, we believe that we are all learning how to manage our own behaviour in order to be Respectful – Manaakitanga; Responsible – Haumarutanga; and Learners – Akonga. We actively model and teach pro-social skills linked to our values and the key competencies of the NZ curriculum: managing self; relating to others; participating and contributing; thinking; using language, symbols and texts.
