A-Z (Info for Whānau)

Please ensure your learner wears appropriate safety gear when cycling or scootering to school. Bikes and scooters are to be walked in the school grounds. The bike and scooter area is locked during learning time and open at break time.

All our staff are first aid trained and our medical room is located near the school office.

Please refer to the enrolment form to advise medical details about your child and to sign permission to administer Panadol.

If you require medication to be given to your child at any time during school hours please see the office to complete the necessary documents.

We recognise that headlice are an unwelcome health condition. We can support you with KidsCan treatments which are available from the school office.

We know that when learners eat well they learn well. Keith Street School promotes healthy eating. The Fruit in Schools and Milk in Schools programmes provide our learners with milk and fresh fruit in classrooms daily.

We are a water only school. If your child comes to school with sugar based drinks we will hold onto the drink until the end of the school day.

We strongly encourage you to clearly name all of your learner’s property (clothes, shoes and other school gear). Items misplaced at school may make their way to our Lost Property located at the back of the hall by the Whanau Room.

At Keith Street School we think about our environment and strive to reduce, re-use and recycle. All students are required to take all food wrappers and packets home in their lunchboxes. We encourage you to think aboutre-useable packaging for your child’s lunches.

Keith Street School is a Sun Smart School. Hats are provided by school for learners to wear in the playground in Terms 1 & 4. 

Your learner is responsible for the hat that is issued to them—they must wear it at break times and return it to the class after each break. Children not wearing their hats at break times will be directed to play in the shady areas.

The school has access to limited sunscreen. We encourage you to remind your learner to put some on before they leave home in the morning.

Keith Street School strongly encourages all learners to leave valuable items at home. We are unable to accept responsibility for any valuables brought to school.

Mobile phones are to be handed in at the office on arrival and can be collected at the end of the day.
